Duley Drops in 15 Points as Lady Tigers Outshine North Shelby
North Shelby made stopping Scotland County's Ashley Tague its top priority on Tuesday night as SCR-I opened conference play hosting the Lady Raiders.
That opened the door for SCR-I's four other talented starters to shine as the Tigers used a balanced scoring attack to knock off North Shelby 54-38.
North Shelby clamped down on SCR-I's leading scorer, holding Tague to just four points on the night. But the senior standout did not force the action, turning her attention to finding her teammates for open looks.
Early on that was Skyler Alderton. The senior guard drilled a pair of three pointers in the first period. Anna Duley and Jamie Shaw each added a pair of buckets as Scotland County cruised out to a 20-8 lead.
Shaw continued to control the paint as she scored nine first half points. A three pointer by Duley put the home team on top 32-16 at the break.
The Lady Tigers led by as many as 18 points midway through the third quarter before North Shelby went on a 9-2 run to pull within 39-28 with eight minutes to play.
That was as close as Duley would allow them to get. The senior forward converted a three point play to start the fourth period and then connected from behind the arc. A jumper by Cali Holt made it 47-33. The junior guard knocked down her free throws down the stretch as SCR-I went on to the 54-38 win.
Duley led Scotland County with a season-high 15 points. Shaw collected 13 points while Holt chipped in with 12 and Alderton added 10.
The win moves SCR-I to 5-0 on the year and 1-0 in TRC play.
