Tigers Baseball Season Ends in District Tourney Opener
After battling Mother Nature down the stretch, Scotland County finally played its last game of the inaugural 2010 baseball season in the opener of the Class 2 District 15 Tournament in Salisbury on May 18th.
The sixth seed Tigers fell to #3 seed Westran by a final margin of 5-0.
No other results from the game were available at press time.
Scotland County closed out the season with a 4-9 record after the final three games of the regular season were rained out.
Westran fell to eventual district champion Carrolton 4-3 in extra innings in the semi-finals.
Top seed Salisbury defeated Putnam County 11-0 in the opener setting up a semifinals showdown with #4 seed Schuyler County, which bested Knox County 4-0 in their opener. Salisbury (17-1) prevailed 1-0 over the Rams before falling to Carrollton (16-2) 4-1 in the championship game.
Carrolton has advanced to the Elite 8 in the state with a 6-1 victory over West Platte. They await the winner between Lexington and Lafayette County.
