Last of Six Lead Changes Lands Tigers With Loss in Home Opener

Scotland County fans received a roller coaster ride on April 6th as the Tigers brought baseball back to Memphis for the first time in 37 years. The game featured six different lead changes before the teamís home opener finally ended on a down note as Linn County held on to beat SCR-I 9-8.

Scotland County fell behind 1-0 before scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Dakota Wells put the Tigers ahead 4-2 in the bottom of the third when he slammed a two-run home run to center field.

The lead was short lived as Linn County took advantage of a pair of SCR-I fielding errors to plate four runs in the top of the fourth to pull ahead 6-4.

Scotland County came right back in the bottom of the frame to tie the score at 6-6 and pulled ahead with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Linn County went ahead for good with three runs in the top of the sixth inning to make the score 9-8.

The Tigers loaded the bases in the seventh inning but were unable to push across the tying run.

Stone took the loss on the mound. He pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs, but only four earned runs. Stone struck out 11 and walked six while allowing four base hits. Ben Shannon pitched the final 1 1/3 innings, allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out three.

Trevor Harris was 1-2 at the plate with a home run, two RBI and a pair of walks. He also had a pair of runs scored. Wells was 1-3 with two runs scored, knocking in a pair of runners with the teamís first round-tripper of the year. Stone was 2-3 at the plate with an RBI.
