Tigers Canít Catch Cardinals After Slow Second Quarter
Scotland County was a cat lying in wait of the Cardinals of South Shelby and the Tigers nearly pulled off the upset over their Class 3 opponents in Memphis on Tuesday night.
A night after picking up a much needed win in its return from winter break, SCR-I gave South Shelby all it could handle before bowing out in a 59-51 loss. A slow second period spelled doom for Scotland County.
South Shelby led 13-12 after the first quarter. Three pointers by Dakota Wells and Kasey Dial kept SCR-I close early on.

The Tigers got things rolling in the third period. Dial heated up from behind the arc, knocking down three, three pointers. Shelley and Harley Stone each had four points during the rally that saw the deficit shrink to 45-39.
Shelley was the go to guy in the fourth period, as he scored seven points. Dial knocked down another from behind the arc but South Shelby never relinquished the lead as the Cardinals held on for the 59-51 victory.
The Tigers (3-7) were led in scoring by Dial with 21 points. Shelley added 15 points. South Shelby had four players in double digits led by Brent Foley with 13 points. Marcus Milner had 12 points while Shannon Hall added 11 points, all coming in the second half. Shane Smith added 10 points.
