Melba J. (Hoyle) White, 78, of Wyaconda, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.

The daughter of Raymond and Leona (Shepard) Hoyle, she was born on February 6, 1932, in Fulton County, IL. She attended Harris school through the eighth grade.

In 1948, she married Earnest Paul. In 1970, she married Don White. Melba lived most of her life in and around Marietta, IL until 1979, when she and Don moved to Wyaconda, MO.

Melba was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her fmily and friends. In her younger years, she was an avid attendee at yard sales. Then later on she enjoyed attending church and hymn sings. She enjoyed traveling to Illinois to spend time with her family and friends.

Melba was also very proud of her two sons who both served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Don White; one son, Mikel Paul; and one brother, Dale Leon Hoyle.

Survivors include two children: Joe and wife Linda Paul and Kristy and husband Dave Tarpein, both of Wyaconda, MO; one daughter-in-law, Jennie Paul of Decatur, IL; six grandchildren, Teri and husband Sam Redding, Shelly McKim, Ryan Paul, Joshua and wife Kim Paul, Joseph M. Paul and Lucas Paul; six stepgrandchildren, Amy Dunning, Katheran Smith, Benjamin Tarpein, Lacey Tarpein, Stacey McClain, and Travis Tarpein; seven great grandchildren; eighteen step great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson, Karson.; two sisters, Elna and husband Chet Paul, Twila and husband John Schrodt; and three brothers, Larry and wife Ruth Ann Hoyle, Leland and wife Diane Hoyle and LaVern Hoyle.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Wyaconda, MO, with Reverend Ernest Deatrick officiating. Pallbearers were Lucas Paul, Josh Paul, J.R. Scobee, Joseph Paul, Kody McAfee, and Drake McAfee. Burial was in the Wyaconda Cemetery.

Memorials were suggested to the Knox County Nursing Home and may be left at or mailed to Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main, Memphis, MO 63555.
