ADAVERLEE “ADA” OLIVER
Adaverlee “Ada” Oliver, 88, formerly of East Moline, went home to be with her Lord on August 25, 2010, in Des Moines, Iowa.
A private graveside service took place in East Moline.
Ada was born October 6, 1921, to Orville Lewis Jones and Edna Frances Clark Jones in Greensburg, MO. She grew up near Granger, MO, with her parents and three siblings. She graduated from Granger High School in 1939 and from Northeast Missouri State Teacher’s College, currently known as Truman State University, in 1943. She earned a B.S. degree in teaching. While at college, Ada met Paul Warner Oliver and they were married on January 15, 1943, in Mexico, MO. The two spent 50 loving years together, enjoying teaching, home building, traveling, camping and caring for their rural acreage.
Ada is survived by one son, Jerry Paul Oliver and daughter-in-law, Helen Margaret (Loding) Oliver, who live in the Des Moines area; and one grandson, Andrew Park Oliver, Boston, Massachusetts. She also left one sister, Flornell Velma (Jones) Schleeter in East Moline and many nieces and nephews. Ada was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Warner Oliver; brother, Harold Devere Jones; and sister, Twila Maxine Sims Humphrey.
The family would like to thank Bickford Cottage of Urbandale, Iowa and Hospice of Central Iowa for their kind and devoted service to the family’s needs. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Simmons College, 300 The Fenway, Room E103, Boston, MA 02115.
