LANITA JAYE LANCASTER
(7/26/1966 - 7/6/2010)



Lanita Jaye Lancaster, 43, of Memphis, MO went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, July 6, 2010 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.

Our family was blessed on July 26, 1966, at Grimm Smith Hospital in Kirksville, MO, when the 3rd daughter, and 5th child of Paul Dewayne and the late Marlene ďMollyĒ Flaye Girardin Lancaster was born.

She had special nicknames, Aunt NeeNee, Skeets, Neets, Neetsa Jaye.

Lanita was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and Mental Retardation at the age of 6. She attended Scotland County R-I schools and finished in the Special Education Program at Blackhawk Elementary School in Kahoka, MO. She resided in Memphis with her parents and the Macon Group Home until 2001. She moved to Scotland Country Care Center and expanded her family with the staff and residents.

Neetsa Jaye enjoyed participating in Special Olympics, visiting with the nursing staff and friends in the office at Scotland County Care Center, riding around and spending time with family and friends and being spoiled by everyone she met. Lanita didnít know a stranger and touched many lives with her special love. Often times you could find Lanita looking at pictures, cruising the roads and talking. She loved music and singing. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Memphis, MO.

She was preceded in death by her mother Marlene Flaye ďMollyĒ Girardin Lancaster, two brothers, Alan Dewayne and Ted Lee, Maternal grandmother Beulah Girardin and paternal grandparents Lloyd and Mae Lancaster.

Lanita is survived by her father Paul D. Lancaster of Memphis, MO, two sisters; Carolyn Raye Harper and husband Danny of Eldon, MO, and Marilyn Kaye Means and husband David of Pineville, LA, one nephew, David Alan Harper of Kahoka, MO, two nieces, Danielle Nicole Harper of Eldon, MO and Martha Raye Means of Pineville, LA, several Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins, as well as her family at Scotland County Care Center. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Memorials are suggested to the Scotland County Care Center and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.

Funeral services for Lanita J. Lancaster, 43, of Memphis were held Friday, July 9, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Memphis. Officiating the service was Pastor David Barton and Laura Schenk was the speaker sharing some special memories. Interment followed in the Memphis Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Harper, David Means, Martha Means, Danielle Harper, Danny Harper and Steve Girardin.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
