Ilah M. Thomas, 96, of Milton, IA, died at 4:05 a.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society VanBuren Hospice Department in Keosauqua, IA.

She was born March 9, 1914 near Azen, MO to Wesley and May Nelson Kerr.

Ilah married Paul E. Thomas April 6, 1935 in Cantril, IA. She graduated from Gorin High School and taught at Upton rural school in Scotland County, located south of Cantril, IA. She and her husband farmed in the Cantril-Milton, IA area and retired to Milton, IA, in 1993.

Ilah took an active role on the farm. She had been a member of Cantril Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and was an organizer of the Happy Hour rural neighborhood club south of Cantril.

Surviving are her husband; a brother, Bill Kerr of Farmington, IA; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, John Kerr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, IA with Pastor Justin DeVries officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril. Visitation will open at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with family present from 4:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Milton Christian Church or Maple Grove Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to 14658 252nd St., Milton, IA 52570.
