GENEVIA MARRIDEE FREDERICK
Genevia Marridee Frederick, 83, of Bible Grove died Thursday morning, April 22, 2010 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis.
She was born the youngest child of James Franklin and Nellie Mae (Baker) Spray on December 30, 1926 in Willmathsville, MO. Marridee attended school in Adair, Knox and Scotland Counties, graduating from Bible Grove High School in 1943.
On December 24, 1946, she married John M. Frederick. He survives.
To this union were born three daughters and two sons.
Marridee enjoyed dancing and music in her younger years. You would often find her outside tending to her animals, garden or flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Marilyn K. Childress in 1985 and Gary L. Frederick in 2008; three grandchildren in infancy; three brothers, Allen, Edward, and Ray; and three sisters, Alpha, Alma, and Irene.
She is survived by her husband John, of the home; three children, Elsie and husband Albert Brassfield of Memphis, Rita and husband Fred West of Burlington, Iowa, and John W. and wife Marie Frederick of Bible Grove; a son in law, Bruce and wife Jeannie Childress of Memphis; 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; many in-laws, nephews, nieces and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 25, at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church, officiating. Pallbearers were Clayton Miller, Josh McSparren, Leslie Richmond, Scott Brassfield, Logan Brassfield, and Richard D. Richmond. Honorary bearers were Ken Dodd, Ed Shannon, Leon Spray, Larry Spray, Eugene Spray, and Phillip Padgett. Burial was in the Bible Grove Christian Church Cemetery. Memorials were suggested to the Bible Grove Christian Church Cemetery or to the Bible Grove Historical Preservation Society and can be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main St., Memphis, MO 63555.
