Donald Vance (Zeek) Gordy, 77 of rural Lancaster, Missouri passed away at his home on April 13, 2010.

The son of Fred and Florence Naomi (Corder) Gordy, Don was born on September 19, 1932 in Coal City, Iowa. He was a graduate of the Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Missouri. On October 22, 1953 in Lancaster, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Wanda Louise Johnson and to this union six children were born, Volney, Vallerie, Veldon, Vickie, Vernon and Verl.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Gordy of Lancaster, Missouri; his children, Volney Gordy and friend, Teri Brown of Lancaster, Missouri, Vallerie Hudson and husband, Jeff of Lockridge, Iowa, Veldon Gordy and wife, Debbie of Kirksville, Missouri, Vickie Rogers and husband, Jim of Kirksville, Missouri, Vernon Gordy and wife, Dana of Kirksville, Missouri and Verl Gordy and wife, Paula of Lancaster, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Small of Lancaster, Missouri and Mary Joyce Shively of Kirksville, Missouri, other family members and many good friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Florence Gordy; two brothers, Warren and Freddie Gordy and one granddaughter, Tiffany Rogers.

Don served in the United States Army where he received an honorable discharge. He was a member of the Coatsville Baptist Church of Coatsville, Missouri. Don worked as a mechanic for several businesses in the area and also worked for local stave mills.

Don served as a board member for the Coatsville Saddle Club in Coatsville, Missouri.

Don treasured the time he was able to spend with his friends and especially with his family. He attended and enjoyed many different gospel-singing events. He will surely be missed.

Funeral services were held April 16, 2010 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Darrell Draper, pastor of the New Hope Evangelical Church of Kirksville, Missouri officiating. Pallbearers were Jimmy Rogers, Kyle Rogers, Jesse Hudson, Galen Hudson, Billy Don Gordy and Michael Gordy. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Rogers, Taylor Hudson, Hayden Ray Gordy and Angela Marie Clark. Memorials have been established for the family choice. Burial was in the Johnson Cemetery, south of Monterey, Iowa. The Scotland County VFW, Post #4958 of Memphis, Missouri, will conduct military rites. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
