Karen Elizabeth Leon, 52, of rural Memphis, Missouri, passed away Thursday morning, April 8, 2010 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

The daughter Robert and Mary Prine Closser she was born on September 4, 1957 in Jerseyville, IL.

In 1975 she graduated from Davis County Schools in Bloomfield, IA. She worked for Keiths Foods in Bloomfield, IA for many years. She was currently employed by Barker Specialty Products, Keosauqua, IA. She also supported Bob in his business, Campbell Custom Haying and Hauling.

Karen liked the outdoors. She loved to garden and to hunt mushrooms. She enjoyed putting together family outdoor gatherings and annual family canoe trips. She was a loyal Texas Hold-em poker player at the Timber Ridge Golf Course. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.

Surviving relatives include her husband Bob Campbell of Memphis, MO; her mother Mary Westfall (Haven) of St. Jacob, Illinois; Bobs parents, Leo V. and Jean Campbell of Memphis, MO; one son, Christopher Leon of Batavia, IA; a stepson, Jason Campbell (Brandi) of Memphis, MO; a stepdaughter, Michelle Holland (Bill) of Memphis, MO; five grandchildren, Kaitlin and Mason VanHoozen, Miranda and Charlee Holland along with Chason Campbell all of Memphis, MO; a brother, Jim Closser (Tammy) of Milton, IA; five sisters, Phyllis Closser of Des Moines, IA; Barb Sandegren (Joe) of Agency, IA, Susan Zook (Rick Hopkins) Drakesville, IA, Lisa Barrett (Mike Karr) Bloomfield, IA, Gwen Bridgman (Russ) Bloomfield, IA; a sister-in-law, Sharon Bradley (Dennis) of Bible Grove, MO; four brothers-in-law, Paul Campbell (Cathy) of Memphis, MO, Don Campbell (Stephanie) of Downing, MO, Michael Campbell (Terry) of Memphis, MO, Jimmy Campbell (Joni) of Pleasant Hill, MO; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Family for their discretion and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St. Memphis, Missouri 63555.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO with Brother Larry Smith officiating. Interment followed in the South Prairie Cemetery in Van Buren County, Iowa.

Pallbearers were Joe Closser, Aaron Moore, Derek Hopkins, Derrick Bradley, Lane Campbell, Lance Campbell, Cody Sandegren, and Kristopher Campbell.
