CHARLES ROBERT GILMER

Charles Robert Gilmer, 63, of Pearland, Texas, passed away Monday, February 1, 2010. He was born December 17, 1946 in Lawrence, Kansas to Robert and Lillian Gilmer. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Charles and Nell Gilmer.
Charlie graduated from Gorin High School in 1963 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1963 – 1967.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda; daughter Barbara and son-in-law Chris; grandchildren, Cody and Kailey Harris; sister Sandra Stout; aunt Wanda and husband Wayne Johnson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Charlie was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved visiting friends and family, going on road trips in their R.V., fishing, his vintage car and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was an intelligent, fun-loving man who enjoyed the simple things in life and was a steadfast friend, mentor and loved one for all who knew him.
A celebration of Charlie’s life was held February 6, 2010, at Shadycrest Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry McCurdy officiating. Interment followed at South Park Cemetery, in Pearland. A pictorial tribute to Charlie has been established through The Arthritis Foundation. Memorial donations may be made in his honor through their website, arthritis.org.
