Mildred Florene Martin, 88, of Queen City, Missouri passed away at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri on Sunday, January 3, 2010.

The daughter of Joseph Lee and Edna Florence (Jackson) Bondurant, she was born on January 27, 1921 in rural Scotland County, Missouri. She was united in marriage by the Reverend Ben Bradbury to Teddy Woodrow Martin on November 22, 1945 at the home of her parents. To this union, six children were born, Dorene, Donna, Shirley, Becky, Stanley and Cathy.

Florene is survived by her children, Dorene Russell and husband, Jerry of Queen City, Missouri, Donna Small and fiancée, Richard Hiltabidle of Queen City, Missouri, Shirley Gardner and fiancée, C. W. Gardine of Lancaster, Missouri, Becky Howe and husband, Bob of Novinger, Missouri, Stanley Martin and wife, Marcia of Lancaster, Missouri and Cathy Vincent and husband, Rick of Queen City, Missouri; grandchildren, Brian Russell, Shawn Russell, Traci Johnson and husband, Ryan, Carna Jackson and husband, Reed, Gabriel Small, Aaron Small and wife, Rachel, Joshua Small, Leslie Gardner, Christopher Gardner and wife, Heather, Daniel Howe and wife, Julie, Joseph Howe and wife, Holly, Kristin Seaton and husband, Jared, Vanessa Martin, Jordan Martin, Matthew Vincent and wife, Lindsey, Tyson Vincent and wife, Nicole, Travis Vincent and wife, Christa, Alyssa Combs and husband, James; great-grandchildren, Anthony Russell, McKenzie Russell, Baylea Turner, Tyler Turner, Teagan Jackson, Ronan Jackson, Anthony Meyer, Matthew Meyer, Andrea Meyer, Brier Gardner, Jacob Gardner, Daniel Stephen Howe, Dylan Howe, Dalton Howe, Sheridan Howe, Logan Burg, Lucee Howe, Nolan Seaton, Preston Martin, Raygen Vincent, Kennedy Vincent, Adria Forck, Peyton Forck, Tristan Forck, Jimmy Combs and Jercia Combs; one great-great-grandson, Karter Lee Crump; one sister-in-law, Fern Bondurant of Princeton, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and many good friends.

Florene is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Teddy on November 17, 2002; one brother, Harold Bondurant and one sister, Loubell Jackson.

Florene was baptized and a member of the Downing Baptist Church of Downing, Missouri. While living on the farm and before moving to town, she enjoyed taking care of her sheep. She was an avid fan of her grandchildren’s activities whether it was sports or school activities. She treasured the time she was able to spend with her entire family and friends and wanted “all the children” to be there.

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri. Special CD selections of “Wind Beneath My Wings”, “On The Other Side” and “One Day At A Time” were performed. Pallbearers were the grandsons. Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Nutrition Site. Burial was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
