Jewell Vivian Winn, 84, of Downing, Missouri passed away at 1:05 a.m. at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Missouri on Friday, January 1, 2010.

The daughter of Ottie and Lula (Briggs) Jackson, she was born in rural Downing, Missouri on December 30, 1925. On December 20, 1941 at her parentís home, she was united in marriage to Loran (Shorty) Winn and to this union three children were born, Harold, Esther and Leslie.

Jewell is survived by her three children, Harold Winn and wife, Pat of Kahoka, Missouri, Esther Brown and husband, Lloyd of Greentop, Missouri and Leslie Winn and wife, Tammy of Greentop, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Angela Smith and husband, Clint of Revere, Missouri, Amy Getz and husband, Lance of Springfield, Illinois, Melissa Baclet of Greentop, Missouri, Tracie Lowe of Queen City, Missouri, T. J. Brown and wife, Melissa of Queen City, Missouri, Alicia Brown of Greentop, Missouri and Dustin, Alyssa and Cody Winn of Greentop, Missouri; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Beulah Jackson of Memphis, Missouri; other family members and many good friends.

Jewell is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loran (Shorty) Winn on May 4, 1996; one sister, Verlee Jordan; and two brothers, Vic Jackson and Robert Jackson.

Jewell was a life-time resident of rural Schuyler County where she and her husband worked hard on their farm south of Downing, Missouri until his death. Jewell then moved to the Downing Senior Housing in Downing, Missouri. She was a member of the Coffey Christian Church and later attended the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri. Her joy in life was being a wife, mother, and grandmother and spending time with family and friends. Jewell also enjoyed crocheting and other crafts.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri with Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church officiating. Donna Byrn was the pianist. Special CD selections of ďIn The GardenĒ and ďSnow White DoveĒ were performed. Pallbearers were Larry Jackson, David Jackson, Brian Byrn, Andy Jackson, W. O. Poe and Doug Poe. Memorials have been established for OATS Transportation or to the Coffey Cemetery. Burial was in the Coffey Cemetery, south of Downing, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster and Downing, Missouri.
