Memphis Man Hurt in Crash on Christmas Eve
A Memphis man sustained serious injuries in a one vehicle accident north of town on Christmas Eve.
According to the Scotland County Sheriff's Office, William R. "Bill" Cook, 82, was northbound on Highway 15 in a 1990 Ford F-150 pickup when the crash occurred at 11:15 a.m. Cook apparently lost control of his truck on the snow-covered roadway as he entered the corner near the KMEM radio tower. The truck went off the roadway where it struck a tree.
Cook was transported by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Hospital in Memphis and was later transferred to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by the Memphis Police Department, the ambulance service and Scotland County first responders.
