Judge DeMarce Receives Missouri Bar President’s Award
Scotland County Associate Circuit Judge Karl DeMarce was presented with a President’s Award at the Annual Meeting of the Missouri Bar and Judicial Conference on Friday evening, October 1, in Columbia. The award was presented by Missouri Bar President H.A. “Skip” Walther.
Walther recognized DeMarce for his voluntary service to the Missouri Bar in a number of capacities, including service on the Criminal Justice Task Force in late 2009 and early 2010, service on the Editorial Board of the Journal of the Missouri Bar, and service on the Legislative Committee. DeMarce was also recently appointed to the Missouri Bar Criminal Law Committee Council.
The Missouri Bar President’s Awards were established by resolution of the Board of Governors in 1965. They are awarded annually, by choice of the president, to one or more members of the state bar who have contributed significantly during the past year by way of actual participation in the work of the bar, value to the organization, and leadership.
Others receiving President’s Awards this year were William Ray Price, Jr., Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Missouri; Darwin Hindman, former mayor of Columbia; John W. Maupin, former chair of the Missouri State Ethics Commission and attorney in Clayton, Mo.; and Dr. Frederick C. Spiegel, professor emeritus of political science at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
In April of this year, Judge DeMarce had also received the President’s Award from the Missouri Association of Probate and Associate Circuit Judges. That award was presented by the president, Judge Mary Pat Schroeder of St. Louis County, in recognition of Judge DeMarce’s eight years of service to the association as a board member and as secretary-treasurer.
