Megan Westhoff Crowned 2010 Missouri State Fair Queen
SEDALIA, MO — Megan Westhoff, 20, was crowned the 2010 Missouri State Fair Queen on Friday, August 13. Westhoff received the highest score out of 60 contestants in the competition. The contestants were judged in areas of Interviews, Speech and Talent and Evening Gown.
Westhoff, of Memphis, is the representative of the Northeast Missouri Fair, and is the daughter of Scott and Angela Westhoff.
Westhoff has been showing sheep at the Fair since age seven and has also participated in Beef Cattle demonstrations. Westhoff has been an active member of 4-H and FFA and held the position of Missouri State FFA Officer.
“I am excited for the opportunity to meet and travel to as many places in Missouri as I can during my reign and contribute to pageants, fairs and festivals throughout the stage,” said Westhoff.
Westhoff is a 20-year-old junior at Northwest Missouri State University majoring in elementary education with a double minor in special education and early childhood special education. She is involved as an executive officer in Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, Student Ambassadors and is a Freshman Peer Advisor.
“The Queen is a role model to fairgoers and all Missourians young and old, in and out of the spotlight,” said Westhoff. “It is so much more than representing an association, it means representing the entire agriculture community.”
As Queen, Westhoff receives a $1,500 scholarship to continue her education at Northwest Missouri State University. Miss Boone County Amy Wilsdorf received the title of First Runner-Up and a $500 scholarship. Second Runner-Up went to Trina Stumpe, Miss Franklin County, who received a $250 scholarship.
The title of Third Runner-Up was received by Miss Barton County Haley Nagel who received a $125 scholarship. Brianna Hickman, Miss Moniteau County, received the title of Fourth Runner-Up and received a $100 scholarship.
Recognition certificates were given to Westhoff for ranking highest in the Speech and Interview Competitions, and to Nagel for ranking highest in the Evening Gown and Talent Competitions.
Other contestants in the Top 10 included Belle FFA Representative Ginny Devine, Miss Higginsville Country Fair Megan Reid, Miss Dallas County Jacqueline Brock, Miss Gasconade County Tany Turnbough and Miss Platte County Molly Mathews.
