County Line Crash Injures Two Men
Two Scotland County men were injured in an ATV accident early Sunday morning in a crash that emergency service personnel converging from two counties.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 1:45 a.m. on Route E at the intersection of County Road 401 near the Scotland County and Clark County line.
First responders reported the seriousness of the accident, forcing law enforcement and ambulance services from both counties to deploy to the scene along with the highway patrol. Air Evac was also dispatched to the scene for a helicopter transfer, with two units initially being dispatched to the scene.
According to investigators, Adam J. Dannenhauer, 44, of Memphis was driving a Kawasaki Mule when he attempted to make a left hand turn and ran off the roadway where the ATV struck an embankment.
He suffered moderate injuries in the crash but refused treatment at the scene. He was taken to the Scotland County Sheriff’s Department where he was booked on charges of driving while intoxicated.
A passenger in the vehicle, Pat J. Shannon, 47, of Granger, suffered serious injuries in the crash. He refused transport by Air Evac helicopter, and was taken by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.
Dannenhauer is being held in the Scotland County jail on a $25,000 cash only bond. He has been charged with DWI - persistent offender. He was also ticketed for driving without a valid license, second offense.
