132nd Annual Scotland County Fair Set to Kick Off Sunday
The 132nd Annual Scotland County Fair will kick off next week with a variety of activities planned to help pack the fairgrounds June 20th-27th.
The grounds will open Sunday afternoon as 4-H members will begin setting up their art hall entries starting at 2:00 p.m.
Livestock will join the ranks of the fairgoers on Monday as the swine, sheep, goat and cattle weigh-ins will be held throughout the day as the animals are checked in for shows later in the week.
The 4-H royalty will be crowned Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. to be followed by the community Vesper service. The band No Worries will be performing Monday evening after the services have concluded.
The cook shack at the fairgrounds will feature a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu each day opening at 6:00 a.m.
The first trophies will be handed out Tuesday morning following the swine show, which gets underway at 9:00 a.m.
The entertaining queenless queen contest will be held in the cattle arena starting at 6:00 p.m.
Tuesday night’s grandstand event will feature the Colgate Country Showdown presented by KMEM, offering area country music talent an opportunity to showcase their talent and earn a right to advance in the competition circuit.
The midway will be open with special carnival armbands on sale for unlimited rides from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for $15. That special rate will be available nightly, Tuesday through Saturday.
The 4-H dog show will open Wednesday’s agenda at 9:00 a.m. The sheep and goat shows will get underway at 2:00 p.m.
The grandstand will switch to motorsports as the go kart racers from Show Me Speedway in Downing will take to the track. The green flag will fall at 7:00 p.m.
There will be an open team sorting contest held in the horse arena starting at 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday night will be another carnival armband special. After the races, the band Cohesion will be playing in the beer tent.
Cattle will be on display Thursday as the junior beef show gets underway at 9:00 a.m.
The motors will be a little louder in the grandstands that night as Scotland County Speedway will feature a full slate of car races getting underway at 7:00 p.m.
Lonnie Erwin will be performing in the beer tent after the races.
Friday will kick off the fair weekend with a full day of events. The fair will feature an open swine show for area exhibitors at 10:00 a.m. An open lamb and goat show will be held at 2:00 p.m.
The Scotland County Rotary Club will hold a chicken BBQ at 5:00 p.m. as the Kids’ n Critters program is getting underway in the cattle arena. The 4-H youth knowledge contest will follow at 5:30 p.m. before the open cattle show gets underway at 7:00 p.m.
Brooke Rochelle will be on stage at 7:00 p.m. in the grandstands as the opening act for Trailor Choir, which will perform at 8:00 p.m.
Saturday will open with the junior livestock sale starting at 9:00 a.m. The Hill Top Mud Bogg races will be held on the fairgrounds at 1:00 p.m.
The Pepsi Demolition Derby will pack the grandstands with the first crashes set for 7:00 p.m. The Bruce Poe band will perform in the beer tent after the event.
Sunday will wrap up the festivities as livestock will be released at 6:00 a.m. The art hall release will begin at 2:00 p.m.
