Community Players Making Plans for Summer Production
What will the parting of the curtains have in store for the Memphis Theatre this summer? The Memphis Community Players will meet at the theatre at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1 to discuss the possibility of a summer production and to make plans for the upcoming season.
The public is invited to attend the meeting to offer input and anyone interested in participating in either a musical or theatrical presentation or willing to help backstage or with building and constructing sets should plan on attending the event.
The Players will return to the stage in the summer of 2010 after the regular odd-year hiatus when members participate with the Mark Twain Chorale on the musical group’s international tours. In 2009 the group traveled to the Czech Republic, Slovania and Hungary in July to perform a series of concerts, marking the seventh tour of Europe.
In 2008 the Memphis Community Players presented the play “Meet Me in St. Louis”. Prior to that the Community Players summer productions were a Broadway Musical Review in 2006 and “My Way – A Musical Tribute” in 2004. The Players put on the play “The Butler Did it, Again” in 2003, preceded by the “GI Jukebox” musical review in 2002.
