Slow Speed Chase - Stolen Bulldozer Stopped in Scotland County
Officers from the Scotland County and Schuyler County sheriff’s departments as well as the Missouri State Highway Patrol converged on an area north of Downing Sunday morning in search of a stolen vehicle.
Turned out there was little chance of a quick getaway for the suspects, who were piloting a stolen bulldozer down County Road 665 in Scotland County.
Officers were dispatched to the scene after a neighbor reported seeing a stolen vehicle traveling down the road at 10:21 a.m.
The bulldozer, which is owned by David Small, had been parked at the Doug Ruth farm.
Shawn W. Porter, 43, of Downing, was taken into custody and charged with stealing and second degree property damage. The latter charge stemmed from damage to the road created by the bulldozer blade.
A second suspect, a juvenile from Downing, was taken into custody before being turned over to the juvenile authorities.
Porter was taken to the Scotland County Jail for booking.
