Fiery Crash Seriously Injures Two
A fiery crash in rural Scotland County left a Wyaconda woman and a one-year-old girl with serious injuries. The crash occurred at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29th on Route H, roughly four miles east of Brock.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Kayla M. Bartz, 20, was westbound on Route H in a 1998 Chevrolet when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned before being fully engulfed in flames.
Both occupants were out of the vehicle when the fire, which was believed to have started in the engine area, reached the passenger compartment.
Bartz, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.
She sustained serious injuries and was transported by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Hospital in Memphis before being air lifted by Med Force to University of Iowa Hospital.
A passenger in the vehicle, Gabby F. Kincaid, 1, of Wyaconda, also sustained serious injuries. She was taken by ambulance to SCH and later transferred to University of Iowa Hospital by Air Evac helicopter.
The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Sheriff’s Department, Scotland County Fire and Rescue, Scotland County Ambulance and first responders.
