Parker Files For Presiding Commissioner
A last second frenzy of filings for county positions never materialized, but one race did take shape and another added a third candidate for the August primary. Jamie Parker filed for presiding commissioner and Robert Moseley filed for county clerk on Tuesday, March 30 as the filing period officially came to a close at 5:00 p.m.
Parker, who filed as Democrat, will face off with current presiding Commissioner Chipper Harris in the August Democratic primary. Harris has been serving in the role since being appointed by Governor Jay Nixon to fill the void created by the resignation of presiding commissioner Mike Stephenson late in 2008.
The other primary race will feature deputy county clerk Batina Dodge, Chris Mallett and Moseley who are seeking the Democratic nod for the county clerk office.
On the local Republican primary ballot, voters will help decide the ticket’s candidate for first district state representative between Neill McKee and Craig Redmon.
