State Representative Candidate Visits Scotland County

A small business owner and past school board member from Canton was in Scotland County last week visiting with prospective constituents to announce his candidacy for the Missouri House of Representatives.

Craig Redmon met with local Republican committee members to announce his intentions of seeking the party’s nod as the candidate for the First District seat currently held by Brian Munzlinger, R-Lewsitown. Munzlinger has announced plans to seek a seat in the Missouri Senate following the completion of his third term in the house this year.

Redmon is a graduate of Highland High School and Culver-Stockton College with a degree in business administration and economics. The business owner hopes to draw upon his education and job experience to help him make the economic well being of the First District the main focus of his campaign.

“This focus on business will translate into more tax money, which will mean more money for our schools and roads,” Redmon said. “My second focal point will be our senior citizens and their care.”

The candidate also highlighted his past experience on the Canton school board, noting the discrepancies in how the state treats rural school districts versus their urban counterparts.

“This is another issue I plan on addressing,” he said.

He highlighted fiscally conservative designs for the office.

“Being a small business owner, I understand how an organization needs to operate within its budget,” he said. “I will take my common sense approach to Jefferson City and be a good steward of your hard-earned tax dollars.”
