SCR-I Sophomores Get First Taste of State Track Meet
A pair of Scotland County R-I sophomores represented the school at the 2009 Missouri Class 2 State Track Meet held May 22nd and 23rd at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.
Rodney Sears finished 15th in the 800-meter run despite shaving more than three seconds off his preliminary time. Sears ran the race in 2:06.31. Jon Hughes, a junior from Mark Twain, won the race in a time of 1:56.44 just ahead of Nick Barron, a senior from Principia, who finished in 1:56.52.
Sabe Sears also finished 15th at state in the high jump. He went out at 5’10”. The sophomore had cleared 6’ to qualify for the event.
Bryce Enyard, a junior from Westran, won the state title by clearing 6’7”.
Keith Hardecke, a junior from Fair Grove was second by clearing 6’5”. Collin Engelbrecht a junior from Vienna, finished third at the height of 6’4”.
