Lady Tigers Nearly Perfect on JV Schedule

The search for perfection came to an end late in the season, but overall Scotland County’s junior varsity girls basketball program enjoyed a tremendously successful 2008-09 season.

After a perfect 11-0 start to the year, an undermanned SCR-I squad stumbled in a 26-22 loss to Knox County followed by a defeat at Clark County. But SCR-I rebounded to win the season finale against the very-same Lady Indians to close out the year with a 12-2 mark.

The winning ways began on November 25th with a 35-23 victory over Knox County. Anna Duley led the lady Tigers with 16 points.

SCR-I routed the Rams of Schuyler County 52-11 on December 1. Jamie Shaw was top scorer with 14 points. Loren Smith and Duley each added 11 points.

The Lady Tigers tripled up Putnam County, 36-12 on December 12th. Duley scored 10 points in the win and Shaw finished with eight.

Centerville was no match for the Lady Tigers in a 34-14 win December 15th. Duley and Smith combined for 20 points to pace their squad.

A 42-8 win over Schuyler County improved SCR-I to 5-0 on the season. Shaw put in 13 points while Skyler Alderton added eight points.

Cali Holt had eight points and Duley added 10 points as SCR-I bested North Shelby 39-19 on January 12th.

The win streak grew to seven games after the Lady Tigers crushed Canton 42-16. Kiley Frazier was the leading scorer with 12 points. Shaw added 10 points and Holt chipped in with nine.

SCR-I survived its first scare of the year on January 29th. The Lady Tigers broke a 16-16 third period tie to best the Midgets 27-22. Shaw topped the attack with 12 points.

Scotland County closed out January undefeated with a 53-18 demolition of Canton. Frazier, Duley Shaw and Katie Shalley combined for 32 points.

The squad hit double-digits in victories by besting Clark County 22-14 in a defensive battle. Shaw was the top scorer with eight points.

Brookfield fell to SCR-I 31-10 on February 6th. The inside game of Shaw and Smith accounted for 20 points. Courtney Jackson pitched in with four points.

The win streak was halted at 11 games in a 26-22 defeat by Knox County.

Clark County made it two in a row with a 46-37 defeat. Alderton, Frazier and Holt each had nine points in the loss.

The season ended on a high note on February 19th as the Lady Tigers avenged the loss with a 34-28 victory over the Lady Indians. Shaw topped the scorebook with 12 points. Alderton finished with nine.
