Cardinals Can Eleven Three Pointers to Knock Off SCR-I

Even without starting forward Kyler Moore, who had posted back-to-back 30-point games the previous week, South Shelby had plenty of firepower on display January 13th in Shelbina as the Cardinals soared past Scotland County 88-55.

Matt Patterson picked up the scoring slack for the host squad as he poured in 31 points on the evening, including eight three pointers.

The senior guard connected from behind the arc three times in the first period as South Shelby jumped out to a 27-12 lead. Jacob Howard had 10 of the Tigers 12 first period points.

Scotland County picked up the pace in the second period. Kyle Shelley poured in 10 points but South Shelby still outscored SCR-I 20-15 to build a 47-27 halftime bulge.

Patterson went back to work to start the third period. He found the range from long distance, knocking down a trio of three pointers to help the Cardinals put up 26 points over the eight-minute spread.

Shelley and Howard combined for 15 points during that time span as the South Shelby lead grew to 72-45.

The Cardinals coasted to the 88-55 win as Marcus Milner contributed 21 points to go with Patterson’s season best 31 points (Three nights later he put up 48 points against Westran.) South Shelby improved to 7-1 on the year.

Scotland County (2-11) was led in scoring by Howard with 24 points. Shelley finished with 19 points.
