Brashear Remains Unbeaten With 77-55 Win Over SCR-I

One more whistle and Scotland County could have been playing five on four basketball for the rest of Tuesday night’s game in Brashear.

The home team took advantage of the Scotland County foul trouble to post the 77-55 victory. Brashear shot 40 free throws on the night that saw three Scotland County players foul out while two of the remaining five players on the court finishing the contest with four fouls.

SCR-I pounded the ball inside in the first period as Jacob Howard and Kyle Shelley combined for all 11 points for the Tigers. Brashear went 10 of 11 from the charity stripe in the first period to lead 16-11.

The home team blew the game open with a huge second period. Kiley Watson and Trea Treasure each had nine points as Brashear went on a 27-12 run to build a 43-23 bulge at the intermission.

Scotland County cut into the lead with a 20-point third period. Howard poured in 12 of his game high 27 points during the run. Shelley and Brandon Garnett each added a pair of buckets as the lead shrank to 59-43.

But state-ranked Brashear put the game away in the fourth period, rolling to the 77-55 win. The home team went 28-40 from the free throw line while SCR-I shot 11 of 20 from the charity stripe.

Scotland County (2-10) was led in scoring by Howard with 27 points. Shelley finished with 12 points.

Brashear remained perfect on the year, improving to 8-0 behind 18 points from Treasure and 17 points by Watson.
