Palmyra Beats Tigers 72-29 in Tournament Opener
Rarely is it good to face a team after they have had a long win-streak broken. Monday night was no different as Palmyra avenged its only loss of the year by pounding Scotland County 72-29 in the opener of the 37th Annual Highland Tournament.
The Panthers were coming off a 55-44 loss to Quincy Notre Dame on January 2nd but improved to 8-1 by blasting the Tigers.
Palmyra opened a 27-8 lead in the first period and never looked back. Jonathon Nutt scored 10 of his game high 19 points in the first period.
SCR-I trailed 37-19 at the intermission before Palmyra extended the lead with a 23-9 scoring advantage in the third period to lead 60-26. The two teams combined for just 12 points in the fourth period as the clock ran non-stop.
Jacob Howard led Scotland County (2-7) with 12 points. Kyle Shelley finished with nine and Harley Stone had five points.
