Clarence Dale Shively, 80, Glenwood, MO, passed away at his rural home on Wednesday, September 9, 2009.

The son of Louie Clarence and Emma Frances (Ryals) Shively, he was born on November 23, 1928 in Coatsville, MO.

On September 15, 1951 in Marshall, MO, he was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Ford and to this union five children were born, Rick, Larry, Lurene, and twins, Brent and Brenda.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Glenwood, MO; children, Rick Shively of Glenwood, MO, Larry Shively of Glenwood, MO, Lurene Stice and husband, Mickey of Downing, MO, Brent Shively of Glenwood, MO and Brenda Powers of Lakeland, FL; 14 grandchildren, Amy Gott and husband, Rodney of Columbia, MO, Jesse Shively of Lancaster, MO, Justin and Joshua Shively of Glenwood, MO, Robert Stice and wife, Amanda of Otterville, MO, Aaron Stice of Lancaster, MO, Katie and Chad Stice of Downing, MO, Logan, Jaron and Dalton Shively of Glenwood, MO, Buddy Powers of New York, Nathan Powers and Crystal Powers of Lakeland, FL; two great-grandchildren, Sophia Shively and Juliana Powers and one on the way; two sisters, Lurene Adams of Kirksville, MO and Jessie Kay Myers and husband, Lee of Rosemount, MN; one brother, Frank Shively and wife, Vera of Bloomfield, IA; other family members and many good friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Olin Leon Shively; and one sister, Vivian Ketchum.

Dale served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and after being honorably discharged, he was elected several years as a delegate of the MFA in Lancaster, MO. Dale was also a member of the American Legion for 21 years.

Dale’s lifetime passion and dedication was to his family, farming and coyote hunting.

Graveside services were held on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, MO with Reverend Lyle Coleman of Linn, MO officiating. Memorials have been established for the family’s use. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, MO.
