DORIS ARDELL (BAKER) SCHUPBACH

Doris Ardell (Baker) Schupbach, 85 of Downing, Missouri passed away at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri on Thursday, December 17, 2009.
The daughter of Andrew Jackson and Helen Blanche (Fincher) Baker, she was born on December 26, 1923 in rural Scotland County, Missouri. She attended and graduated from the Downing High School in Downing, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Orville Max Schupbach and to this union six children were born, Donald, Ronald, Denis, Robert, Marilyn and Carolyn.
Doris is survived by her children, Donald Schupbach of Pahrump, Nevada, Ronald Schupbach and fiancee, Lorie Waller of Downing, Missouri, Denis Schupbach and wife Jeanie of Mesa, Arizona, Robert Schupbach and long time girl friend, Mary Hemmingway of Downing, Missouri, Marilyn Schupbach of Downing, Missouri and Carolyn Schupbach of Downing, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Verlin Baker and wife, Roberta of Arkansas, three sisters, Dorothy Current and husband, Lavaine of Canton, Missouri, Martha Montgomery of Alma, Nebraska and Norma Cotton of Memphis, Missouri; two adopted sons whom Doris raised as her own, Bill Fluharty of Paradise, California and Sina Fallahii of Seattle, Washington; other family members and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max in l981; her parents Andrew Jackson Baker on July 7, 1988 and Helen Blanche (Fincher) Baker on October 21, 1985; two brothers-in-law, Robert Montgomery and P. C. Cotton and one step granddaughter, Ginger Herring.
Doris was a member of the Downing Community Christian Church of Downing, Missouri and was also a member of the Order of Eastern Stars for a number of years. She was named “Volunteer of the Year” by the OATS organization. Doris never knew a stranger and was a “people person”!
Graveside services were held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Downing Cemetery in Downing, Missouri with Walter Burnett, pastor of the Downing Community Christian Church officiating. Memorials have been established for the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster and Downing. Missouri.
