Norma Louise Mendenhall, 73, of Memphis, Missouri passed away Friday, December 18, 2009, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

The daughter of Walter Lee and Thelma Louise Jones Fogle, she was born December 24, 1935. Norma was the fourth of six children. She attended grade school at both Union and Oak Ridge grade schools and graduated from high school in 1953.

She married Vernon Tinkle and then later on, March 28, 1960 in Kirksville, Missouri, she married Robert Mendenhall. They lived around Memphis and Rutledge area. They had a farm east of Memphis where all five of their children grew up. In 1989 they sold the farm and moved to Memphis. After moving to town, she enjoyed her flower gardens and yard work, and she always kept her place immaculate. In her spare time she would go to yard sales and look for antiques.

After her children were grown she worked out of the home. As a waitress, she was employed at Ik’s Palace and East Side Café on the square, Garment Factory, Memphis Locker and Scotland County Care Center. She then retired to spend time with her husband.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband Robert Rex Mendenhall; son, Timothy Bounds Mendenhall; brother-in-law Raymond Forquer; sister-in-law Darlene Fogle.

Surviving relatives include three sons, Larry Tinkle and wife Geneva, Ronnie Tinkle and wife Chris all of Memphis, Missouri, Rick Tinkle of Brashear, Missouri; her daughter, Kimberly Ann (Kay) Anesi and husband Joey of Kirksville, Missouri; grandchildren, Jennifer Manchester and husband Derek of Memphis, Missouri; Michael Ramore and Cara of DesMoines, Iowa, Roger Tinkle and wife Jessica, Robert and wife Jennifer Tinkle, and Jessica Camp all of Memphis, MO, Matthew Tinkle and wife Jena of Wichita, KS, Timothy Mendenhall of the state of Florida, Mataya Mendenhall, Troy Mendenhall both of Kirksville, MO, Cody Persell and wife Amy of Lee’s Summit, MO and Josey Anesi of Kirksville, MO; great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Forquer of Novinger, Betty Ambler and husband Karl of Salina, KS; three brothers Don Fogle and wife Dora of Memphis, MO, Paul Fogle and wife Roberta of Jefferson City, MO and Troy Fogle of Independence, IA;along with several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Scotland County Food Pantry and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, Missouri 63555.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2009 at the Payne Funeral Chapel with Cody Pursell officiating. Interment followed in the Memphis Cemetery in Scotland County.

Grandchildren served as pallbearers.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
