Lucille Tague, 91, of Memphis, MO, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua, IA. She was born January 23, 1918 in Memphis, MO, to William and Nettie (Matlick) Hotchkiss. She married Olen Tague on February 12, 1937 at Memphis, MO.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Memphis United Methodist Church. She quilted with the ladies of the church as long as her health permitted her to.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Payne of Mt. Sterling, IA, and Shirley Swafford and her husband Bary of Burlington, IA; three grandchildren, Karen Stafford and her husband Adam of Fairfield, IA, Kevin Payne and his wife Malynda of Bloomfield, IA, and Kimberly Banks and her husband Chuck of Keosauqua, IA; five great-grandchildren, Kyle and Mikel Payne, Spencer Peterman, Kortney and Kamryn Banks; a cousin Ralph Hotchkiss of Monroe TWP, New Jersey; a brother-in-law Floyd Tague of Memphis, MO; and four sisters-in-law, Gladys Tague of Memphis, MO, Callie Strandberg of Liberal, KS, Dorothy Sequin of Weslaco, TX and Doris Day of Gorin, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; father; mother; a son-in-law Jerry Payne;and a brother-in-law Earl Tague.
Funeral services were held at the Memphis United Methodist Church on Thursday, October 22, 2009 with Pastor Terry Lippstreu officiating. Interment followed in the Gorin Cemetery.
