A memorial service for Johnnie Pard Valleroy III, 57, Kearney, NE, was held February 27, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, Kearney, NE, with Chaplain Skip Stanley officiating. Inurnment with full military honors followed at Fort Riley Cemetery. He was buried with his father at Fort Riley, a World War II and Korean War Memorial.

Johnnie passed away February 15, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.

Memorial contributions may be made to Omaha Home for Boys, 4343 N. 52nd St., Omaha, NE 68104.

Johnnie was born March 14, 1951, in Kirksville, MO, the son of the late John Valleroy II and Mrs. Jerry (Reed) and James Hart of Junction City, NE.

He graduated from JCHS with the class of 1970.

Johnnie worked for the Daily Union during his school years in the circulation department with Ed Berney for four years. Upon graduation, he entered the Marine Corps in San Diego (1970-71) and received an honorable discharge due to his hearing problem. He worked for the J.C. Foundry 11 years until it closed. He then began working at Holiday Mansion as a yacht builder for five years, which built one for singer Willie Nelson. His final job put him at Chief Industry for 14 years as a supervisor building the grain elevators in Kearney. Again, ill health forced him to leave his job due to a battle to fight cancer, which he lost his life to.

Johnnie enjoyed collecting car models, memorabilia of car racer Dale Earnhardt, Jr., building models of planes and boats, cross-stitching crafts, woodworking, gardening and, most of all, fishing. He was a great fisherman. He will be missed dearly and was loved by all. He was good to everyone he met during his life.

Johnny is survived by his mother, Jerry; sister, Kathy D. Coleman, Junction City; brother, James (Steve) Valleroy, Tampa, FL. He is also survived by sons, Jimmie and Brian Valleroy, Salina; granddaughter, Hailey M. Valleroy, Salina; nephew, Christopher J. Coleman and nieces, Stephanie M. Coleman, Junction City and Mrs. Crystal Duval, Houston, TX. Johnnie is also survived by his beloved companion, Stacey Scharuet.

He was a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pard H. Reed of Gorin, MO.
