SCS to Host Pepsi Memphis Nationals October 15th-17th

Memphis will be transformed into a mecca of racing fans, cars and drivers as the Scotland County Speedway hosts the fourth running of the Pepsi Memphis Nationals on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 15th-17th.

Modifieds, Stock Cars, B-Mods and Hobby Stocks will be in action all three days on the semi-banked 3/8-mile clay oval.

The action kicks off on Thursday with an open practice for all classes from 6-9 p.m., followed by a night of pre-race bench racing in the spacious Scotland County Speedway pit area. For race fans wanting to get a sneak peek at the competitors and their machines, admission to the grandstands is free.

All drivers will draw on Friday and Saturday for starting positions, and will re-draw each night for feature race starting positions. A complete program of qualifying heats, last chance races and feature races are on tap both nights for all four classes.

On Friday, pit gates open at 4 p.m., grandstands open for general admission seating at 5:30, hot laps are at 7:00 and racing begins at 7:30. On Saturday, pit gates open at 3 p.m. with grandstand gates swinging open at 4:00, hot laps at 5:30 and the first green flag waves at 6:30.

National points will be awarded each night in the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series for USRA-licensed drivers, but a USRA license is not required to compete in this event. This weekend is the final weekend for drivers to earn national points, so dozens of title-chasers are expected to be on hand to improve their rankings in the national standings.

In all four classes, USRA or IMCA-type rules shall apply.

Modifieds will race for $700 to win on Friday and $1,000 to win on Saturday. Stock Cars battle for $500 to win Friday with a top prize of $700 on Saturday. Friday night’s B-Mod feature will pay the winner $400, with Saturday’s winner getting $500. Likewise, Hobby Stock drivers will race for $400 to win on Friday and a $500 first-place paycheck on Saturday night.
