Burglary Suspects Apprehended Following Manhunt Across Northeast Missouri

A pair of suspects in a string of northeast Missouri burglaries is behind bars after a 48-hour man hunt that started in Marion County.

According to the Marion County Sheriffs Department, a rural Philadelphia homeowner interrupted an apparent burglary at his residence on Wednesday afternoon, August 26th.

Law enforcement officers converged on the scene seeking the two suspects, a man and a woman, who reportedly fled the scene in a truck being followed by the homeowner in his vehicle.

The property owner actually interrupted the burglary as two suspects were taking guns, a safe, jewelry and cash from the home, said Marion County Sheriff Jimmy Shinn.

The vehicle pursuit ended in a cornfield near Philadelphia, where the two suspects ditched the truck and fled on foot according to Shinn.

The Marion County Sheriffs Department was assisted by officers from the North Missouri Drug Task Force, LaGrange Police Department and Shelby, Lewis, and Clark counties Sheriffs Departments in a 24-hour manhunt that ultimately culminated in the capture of one of the suspects.

According to published reports, Robert Missen, 29, of Wyaconda, was located in a wooded area approximately one mile west of Philadelphia. Officers responded to a tip from a motorist that reported seeing a man crossing the road and running into a filed. Missen was reportedly located hiding in an elevated deer hunting stand.

The female suspect in the investigation eluded officers before finally being apprehended on August 29th by the Clark County Sheriffs Department. Patricia Gordy, 31, of Wyaconda, was taken into custody without incident.

The Scotland County Sheriffs Department assisted with the investigation.

Along with the Clark County Sheriffs department, local officers performed surveillance of known associates of the suspects in the Wyaconda area as well as other parts of Clark and Scotland County in an attempt to help the Marion County Sheriffs Department apprehend the suspects.

The Scotland County Sheriffs Department currently is investigating at least two recent burglaries that may be connected to the arrests.
