Kansas Man Arrested in Local Rape Case
A Kansas man is being held in the Scotland County Jail on $100,000 cash only bond after his arrest August 21st for allegedly raping a Memphis woman.
The Memphis Police Department arrested Shawn Ross Mattson, 24, of Marysville, KS at 12:45 a.m. at the victim’s residence.
Mattson reportedly gave the victim a ride home from a bar and refused to leave the residence, ultimately committing the crime of forcible rape.
Mattson faces the unclassified felony of forcible rape – sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion. The charge was filed by Scotland County Prosecuting Attorney Kimberly J. Nicoli on August 21st.
The violation under Section 566.030 of the Missouri Statutes is punishable by a life imprisonment or a term of not less than five years.
A preliminary hearing in the case has been scheduled on September 22nd at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Karl DeMarce.
