Bible Grove to Host 19th Celebration
The school year officially opens August 19th, but the historic Bible Grove School will once again welcome guests a little early as the site of the 19th Annual Bible Grove Preservation Day on Saturday, August 15th.
The school, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places will host a day-long celebration featuring a variety of activities to help raise money to restore and maintain the facility.
The trap shoot will get things started with a bang at 10:00 a.m. Contact Lisa Wells to register for the event at 883.5623.
A lunch of kettle beans and corn bread will be served at noon to be followed by black powder demonstrations by the Indian Creek Muzzleloaders.
Kids games, including a hay scramble, dime toss and the jailhouse will get underway around 2:00 p.m. Pony rides by Circle M Horse Ranch will be available at 3:00 p.m. as well as the cake walk contest.
Bette Wiley and JoAnn Ragan will give a history presentation in the school at 2:30 p.m.
Little Mr. & Miss Bible Grove will be crowned during the baby show which starts at 4:00 p.m. To pre-register contact Heather Goodwin. Age divisions will be available for kids four and younger.
The evening will feature a chicken barbecue as well as live music. The band NoWhere Fast will take the stage at 8:00 p.m.
Prize drawings will be held throughout the evening including a 50/50 cash prize and a raffle for a six-piece patio set.
