Demo Derby Car Raffle to Raise Money for Fair
Most motorists spend their entire driving career attempting to avoid accidents. The Scotland County Fair Board is looking for those who want to be involved in some crashes.
Thanks to a number of local sponsors, the Fair Board is hosting a fundraiser in conjunction with the 2009 Demolition Derby at the fair set for June 27th.
The group will be raffling off a derby car ready to run in the 2009 event. Tickets will be $5 each or three for $10 with the lucky winner getting “the keys” to the car and free entry into the event. Participants must be 16-years-old or older to buy a ticket. Anyone under the age of 18 must have written permission from a guardian to participate in the demolition derby.
Ticket sales are now open and will continue up until the designated drawing time of 6:30 p.m. on the night of the event.
Sponsors who made the fundraiser possible include Brad Holt Construction, Holton Tire, Pepsi, Fredwrecks, KMEM, the Memphis Democrat and the Scotland County Fair Board.
The compact car will participate in the four-cylinder portion of the demo derby.
Organizers plan to display the car at various sites in town over the next weeks leading up to the event, with the car being moved to the fair grounds the week of the event where ticket sales will be offered all week.
