Chamber Making Plans for Annual Peanut Day Event
The Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce is getting ready to go nuts again. The MAAC will host its annual Peanut Day fundraiser on Saturday, June 6th in Memphis.
Chamber members will get together on June 4th to prepare for the event, sacking peanuts at J’s beginning at 6:30 p.m. Volunteers are welcome.
But as customers realize, each sack contains more than just peanuts. MACC members wanting to donate prizes (just like Cracker Jacks – there’s one in every bag) are asked to do so by the close of the business day on June 4th. Prizes may be left at Primrose Realty, Kountry Konnection or Memphis Auto Parts.
“If they need prizes picked up they can call one of us as well,” said MACC secretary Tammy Adams. “If you have any questions call Jeannie at (660) 465-7106. Anyone who can help sack peanuts please come to J’s food on the 4th at 6:30 p.m.”
In addition to the sale of the prize laden peanut packages, the MACC will be hosting a Peanut Day parade this year on June 6th.
“Decorate your bike, trike, wagon to pull, or even your dog and meet at the Antique Fair Board’s lot across from Primrose Realty at 9:45 a.m. that morning,” said Adams.
The parade will start at 10:00 a.m. Canine Capers will be there and prizes will be given for best decorated.
Top prize will be $30, with second taking home $20 and third place receiving $10. All participants will receive a prize courtesy of the Gingerbread House and the Scotland County Pharmacy.
In addition to the merchant’s gifts that can be found in each bag of peanuts, the MACC has sweetened the pot, adding a total of 10 $10 Memphis Bucks prizes as well as two $50 US Savings Bonds.
The Chamber also announced an agreement with Britta Burrus Design to redesign and update the Chambers website, which will be found at www.memphismochamber.com.
