Fire Destroys Logs Valued at $2,500
High winds are being blamed for spreading a fire at Tri-State Timber that ultimately destroyed as many as 40 ash logs valued at more than $2,500.
Embers from the businesses burning sawdust waste pile spread into the log pile and ignited the blaze that was reported at 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, April 4th.
Fifteen firemen answered the call, taking five fire trucks to the scene on Highway 136 east of Memphis.
The firemen’s efforts were aided by the use of some of the business’s heavy equipment, which helped separate the undamaged logs from the fire, ultimately saving more than 100 additional logs.
The fire department was on the scene for approximately 2½ hours.
