Joseph Mendenhall Facing Sexual Assault Charges
A Memphis man marked his 67th birthday behind bars following his arrest this week on a number of sexual assault charges.
Joseph E. Mendenhall of Memphis was arrested by the Memphis Police Department last week following an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile.
He faces two counts of Class C felony of statutory sodomy in the second degree and one charge of class C felony felonious restraint.
According to the arrest report, Mendenhall allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old female on at least four different occasions from July to November 2008. In one of the instances, he reportedly cornered her in a restroom of a local business and sexually assaulted her there.
Mendenhall is being held in the Clark County Jail on $250,000 bond.
Court records show that Mendenhall was the subject of a full order of child protection. The restraining order was enforced on behalf of a minor child on November 18, 2008. Mendenhall had been the subject of other similar court actions in the past.
