Three Teens Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Stopped in Kansas
Three Memphis teens were taken into custody without incident when the stolen vehicle they were driving was stopped by law enforcement officers in Kansas.
Jonathan Cody Simpson, 17, of Memphis, and two juveniles, all of Memphis, were taken into custody at the time of the traffic stop.
According to the Memphis Police Department, the three boys located a vehicle with its keys in the ignition on Monroe Street in Memphis on the afternoon of February 11th.
The 1992 Ford Tempo owned by Amanda Dennis, was reportedly stolen and the three teens took turns driving the vehicle west across the state before entering Kansas.
A deputy of the Doniphan County Sheriff’s Department identified the car from a stolen vehicle report and initiated a traffic stop.
Simpson faces a class C felony charge of tampering in the first degree.
