DORIS EVELYN MILLER

Doris Evelyn Miller, 90, of Bloomfield, Iowa and formerly of Memphis, Missouri, died Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.
She was born September 14, 1918 in Scotland County, Missouri to Foster and Loucile Melissa Phillips Fogle.
She grew up in the Downing, Missouri area and graduated from Downing High School. She also attended the Burlington Beauty Academy. She married Archie B. Miller on September 21, 1938, in Memphis, Missouri, and to this union a son was born.
Doris was a member of the Brock United Methodist Church and the Memphis United Methodist Church and was very active in the various activities of the church. She was a homemaker, assisted her husband in their farming operation and was a cook for Scotland County High School. She enjoyed working with her flower and vegetable gardens, candle wicking, quilting, cake decorating and most importantly, enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Larry Lee Miller and his wife, Glenda, of Bloomfield, Iowa; two grandchildren: Matt Miller of Ottumwa, Iowa and Mandi Francis and her husband, Alan, of Bloomfield, Iowa; four great-grandchildren: Jocelyn Miller, Maleena Bender, Kaitlin Francis and Alexa Francis. Other survivors include a half-brother, William "Junior" Folkestad, Jr. and his wife, Kathyrn, of Eldon, Missouri.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in February of 2007, and her step-father, William Folkestad, Sr.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, Missouri at 11 A.M. with the Reverend Charles Hammack officiating. Music will be provided by Joe and Lori Fulk. Visitation will open at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday with the family present to meet friends and relatives at 9:30A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow the service in the Memphis Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Duane McDonald, Roger L. Riebel, Freddie Henderson, Larry Remley, Rick Fischer and Vernon Oberholtzer.
Memorials may be made to the Bloomfield Care Center, the Memphis United Methodist Church or Hospice of Davis and Wapello Counties and may be mailed to or left at the Memphis Funeral Home. 378 South Market Street, Memphis, Missouri 63555.
