WANDA LEE CAMPBELL
Wanda Lee (Mullenix) Campbell, 70, of rural Glenwood, MO, passed away on December 4, 2008 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, MO.
The daughter of Lester Olean and Martha L. (Mitchell) Mullenix, she was born July 1, 1938 in Coatsville, MO.
She graduated from Lancaster High School with the class of 1957.
On August 31, 1957, she was united in marriage to Herbert Max Campbell in Lancaster, MO in the Baptist parsonage by Reverend Ben Bradbur and to this union four children were born, Marilyn, David, Carolyn and Chris.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Herbert of Glenwood, MO; her children, Marilyn Ayer and husband, Randall of rural Lancaster, MO, David Campbell and friend Bonnie Schoonover of Glenwood, MO, Carolyn Applegate and husband, Paul of Queen City, MO and Chris Campbell and friend Kala Fugate of Glenwood, MO; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; their beloved dog, Abby; other family members and many good friends.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Martha Mullenix; three brothers, John Mullenix, Tilman (Tim) Mullenix and Owen Mullenix; two sisters, Bernice Weatherford and Elizabeth (Betty) Martin.
She was a life-long resident of Schuyler County. She loved music and played piano for J.P. Leedom’s band for several years and was the pianist for several different churches in the county as well as Livonia. She was an Avon representative and achieved President Club status on at least five occasions. Wanda was a veterinarian assistant for Dr. James Foster for 14 years and greatly enjoyed working with the public as well as the animals. Some of her greatest joys included watching her hummingbirds, doing crossword puzzles, reading and spending time with family.
Funeral services were held December 8, 2008 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith officiating. Music was provided by pianist, Donna Welte and soloist, Cheryl Fabyanic. Pallbearers were Paul Applegate, Randall Ayer, Robbie Nelson, Eddie Berry, Quinten Smyser, and Kendall Gray. Honorary pallbearers were Matthew Applegate, Tyler Campbell, Brett Campbell, and Layton Campbell and Dr. James Foster. D.V.M. Memorials have been established to the Schuyler County Library and Glenwood Cemetery or donor’s choice. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster.
