Mrs. Mary Dean Farr, age 79, of La Grange, MO died Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 5:12 p.m. at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

She was born June 30, 1929 near Rutledge, MO a daughter of Henry and Hattie Grover Forquer. She married Ronald L. Farr in Quincy, IL on December 18, 1951 seven days prior to leaving to serve in the Army in Korea. He spent 19 months overseas in which time Mary wrote to him everyday.

Mary graduated from Rutledge High School in 1947. She attended Gem City School of Business and was a secretary for the Adams County Engineer. She quit to be a homemaker and raise her family.

She was a charter member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary where she had served as itís President and was a member of the Wyaconda Baptist Church near Canton, MO.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Ronald of La Grange; two sons, Roland Farr and his wife Pam of La Grange and Robey Farr and his wife Sharon of Canton; a daughter Ronda Whitaker and her husband Tony of Lewistown, MO; seven grandchildren, Amanda Lay and her husband Wade, Gregory, Randy, Tyler, and Robin Farr and Douglas and Geoffrey Whitaker; three great grandchildren, Alyssa, Preston, and Peyton Lay; two brothers in law, Richard Farr of La Grange and Robert Farr and his wife Jean of La Grange; three sisters in law, Barbara Jean Steinkamp of Camp Point, IL and Bonnie Forquer of Baring, MO, Helen Forquer of Alton, IL and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Earl Henry, Wallace who died while serving in W.W. II, Raymond and Johnny Forquer, sisterís in law, Iline Farr, Patty Farr, Anna Marie Forquer and Lea Forquer and brother in law Eugene Steinkamp.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange with Rev. David Howald officiating. Burial was in Wyaconda Baptist Church Cemetery near Canton. Music was provided by Wilma Maples, organist and Marilyn Hoffman, vocalist. Pallbearers were Gregory Farr, Randy Farr, Tyler Farr, Douglas Whitaker, Geoffrey Whitaker and Preston Lay.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Wyaconda Baptist Church.
