Ina Mae Saulsbury, youngest daughter of eight children born to Elverson L. Brown and Marguerite Smallwood Brown was born in Savannah, IA, on August 17, 1918. She passed away on September 1, 2008 at Saint Lukeís Hospital in Kansas City with her family and wonderful nurses by her side. Ina Mae had just turned 90 and had a great time celebrating with the gang.

At the age of 16 months, her family moved from Savannah, IA to Lancaster, MO where she grew up, graduated from high school and married a local boy, Ace A. Saulsbury on March 26, 1941. To this union, a daughter, Judith K. and son, John H. were born. Ace passed away December 20, 1983.

Ina Mae was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Booneville, MO. Early in life, she was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Lancaster, MO. Recently she enjoyed Sunday School and Bible Study with her friends at the Bowen Apartments in Raytown, MO.

The high points in her life were her family and the brothers and sisters and families of her deceased husband. Ina Maeís zest for life and kind heart touched everyone she met. Ina Mae and Ace are together at last fishing for huge crappie at the lake.

Surviving are her daughter, Judith K. and husband, Gary J. Smith (Joe) of Independence, MO; son, John H. and wife, Joyce E. Saulsbury of Battle Ground, WA; four grandchildren, Linda K. and husband, Gene Russell of Lawson, MO, Amy J. and husband, Paul E. Wendel of Olathe, KS, Jay M. Saulsbury of Redmond, OR and Jacob A. Saulsbury of Van Cover, WA. Ina Mae was blessed with five great-grandsons, Summer A. and Jasper J. Saulsbury, Matthew A. and Joseph B. Russell and Jacob T. Wendel. She also had one great-granddaughter, Megan J. Wendel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Bill Brunk of Lancaster, MO, Ethel Saulsbury of Lancaster, MO, Betty Jackson of Kahoka, MO, Lois and Donald McInerney of Ottumwa, IA, Jim and Eleanor Saulsbury of Rockfold, IL, Cleta Cassidy of Rockford, IL, Jean Saulsbury of West Frankfort, IL, Esther Chenowith of Ottumwa, IA and Vera Saulsbury of Rockford, IL; many nieces and nephews.

Ina Mae is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ace Saulsbury; four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held September 6, 2008 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO with Robert Harrison, pastor of the Lancaster Baptist Church of Lancaster, MO officiating. Music was provided by organist Maureen Watkins and soloist, Cole Tippett. Pallbearers were Paul Wendel, Gene Russell, Jake Saulsbury, Rick Kelso, Jack Saulsbury and Jerry Saulsbury. Honorary pallbearer was Gary Smith. Memorials have been established for the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO and burial was also in the Arni Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, MO.
