Glenn Laverne Hurley, 54, of Lincoln, NE, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2008, at the Bryan LGH West in Lincoln, NE.

The son of Glenn Clinton and Josephine Marie (Lucas) Hurley, he was born on January 13, 1954 in Rockford, IL.

He attended and graduated from the Putnam County High School in Unionville, MO in 1972.

At the time of his death, he was a self-employed carpenter in Nebraska and Missouri.

Survivors include his mother, Josephine Mathes of Downing, MO; special friends, Dennis Vollenweider and Steven Norton of Lincoln, NE; two sons, Jerred Hurley and wife, Ashley of Unionville, MO and Douglas Hurley and wife, Deb of Unionville, MO; one grandchild, Brody Hurley; two step-grandchildren, Sam and Jake; three sisters, Glenda Gates and husband, Larry of Livonia, MO; Shirley Anders and husband, Larry of Glenwood, MO and Kim Rojak and husband, Phil of Springfield, MO; three brothers, Richard Hurley of Memphis, MO, James Hurley and wife, Diane of Center, MO and Joe Hurley and wife, Billie of Downing, MO; two sisters-in-law, Sue Hurley of Centerville, IA and Kim Hurley of Livonia, MO; one aunt, Virginia Capps of Livonia, MO; two uncles, Bob Hurley and wife, Bev of Livonia, MO and Paul Lucas and wife, Mildred of Novinger, MO; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.

Laverne is preceded in death by his father, Glenn Clinton Hurley; his stepfather, Ovid “Tub” Mathes; two brothers, Arthur Hurley and Roger Hurley; three nephews, Arthur Dwayne Hurley in infancy, Clinton Hurley and Christopher Hurley and two sisters-in-law, Krystal Hurley and Jillynda Harvey.

Laverne attended the Assembly of God Church in Lincoln, NE.

Other than his family, his interests include the family farm and flowers. He was a caring individual and enjoyed being with people.Funeral services were held August 25, 2008, with Robin McCullar, pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Glenwood, MO, officiating at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO. Music selections were CD Selections. Pallbearers were Douglas Hurley, Jerred Hurley, Glenn Kollars, James Hurley, Joe Hurley, and Richard Hurley. Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Vollenweider and Ken Vollenweider. Memorials have been established for the Hurley Cemetery. Burial was held in the Hurley Cemetery in rural Putnam County, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, MO.
