Virgil F. Peterson, 64, of Kansas City, MO, passed away July 29, 2008, at Liberty Hospital with his family at his side.

Mr. Peterson was born January 30, 1944, in Gorin, MO, to Jude and Vernida Stogsdill Peterson. He attended and graduated from Gorin School.

On November 2, 1962 he was united marriage to Janice Garber and to this union two sons were born.

Virgil worked in the printing business for 41 years retiring in 2003. He then worked at KC Auto Auction and Spot Not Car Wash in Independence, MO.

Virgil enjoyed fishing and watching and being around baseball. His most enjoyment was spending lots of time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Peterson; two sons, Scott Peterson and Todd Peterson, both of Kansas City, MO; daughter-in-law, Penny Peterson of Smithville, MO; grandchildren, Keith and Jenny Carter of Engelwood, KS, Brittany Peterson, Derek Peterson, and Mercedes Peterson, all of Kansas City, MO, Jakob Peterson of Liberty, MO; three great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Karson Carter of Englewood, KS and Riley Dibben of Smithville, MO; sister, Sue Jameson and husband, Tim of Excelsior Springs, MO; brother, Rex Peterson and wife, Becky of Memphis, MO, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Jude and Vernita Peterson; sister, Julia Rhodes; brother, Bobby Peterson; niece, Marilyn Keller; nephew, Christian Parrish.

Services were by Charter Funerals/Northland Chapel, 77 N.E. 72nd St., Gladestone, MO. Visitation was held Friday. Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithville, MO. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
