Caroll F. Yost died April 11, 2008, in Ozark Riverview Manor, of complications from a stroke.

He was born on the Jess Family farm in Scotia, NE, on March 15, 1936, to Myrl and Jessie Jess Yost.

Caroll graduated from Grand Island High in Grand Island, NE, in 1954.

He married his high school sweetheart, Kay Cook, on September 4, 1955. It was the beginning of a special union and life partnership. They were the love of each otherís life.

Caroll spent the first 25 years of his professional career in the variety store business. He was with Hested Stores for 15 years, where he managed stores in Neligh, NE, Buffalo, WY, Hardin, MT, and Arvada, CO. He was proud to be with Wal-Mart Store for five of their formative years in the late 1960s and early 1970ís, then finally his own variety store in Memphis, MO. He recently retired from his own painting and wallpaper business.

His passion and pursuits included most anything Nebraska, especially pheasant hunting and Husker football. He was an avid collector of antiques, including glassware of many kinds, and postcards reflecting areas of his many interests and travels. He also created many beautiful pieces of stained glass.

Caroll was preceded in death by an infant son, Micheal; his father, Myrl Yost; his mother, Jessie Jess Yost; and his grandmother, Eva Jess Van Slyke.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Yost of the home; his sons and their families, Mark and Nancy Yost of Springfield, MO, Scott Yost and fiancee Sandy Warren of Springfield, MO, Drew Yost of Kirksville, MO and Kendall and Robin Yost of Ozark; grandchildren, Natalie Yost, Wyatt and Eyan Yost, Kaitlyn Yost, and Cody and Caden Calvert; his brother and his wife, Donald and Deanne Yost of Huntington, WV; sister and husband, Marilyn and Dale Zehring of Columbus, NE; brother and wife, Roger and Sandy Yost of Glenwood Springs, CO; sister-in-law Patsy Spindler of Springfield, MO; special cousins, Larry and Mary Ann Jess of Johnson Lake, NE; and many, many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services were April 15, 2008 in Schweitzer United Methodist Church, 2747 E. Sunshine, Springfield, MO. Burial was in Clear Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and to Schweitzer United Methodist Church, Springfield, MO.
